If desired, also place a twilight switch between this transformer and the light circuit so that LED garden lamps switch on automatically when it gets dark.
INSTALL THE 24 VOLT CABLE SYSTEM EASILY YOURSELF!
Are you not very handy with cords and cables and does installing outdoor lighting seem complicated to you? That doesn’t have to be the case.. With 24 volt outdoor lighting , mounting the lighting is very easy! Anyone can install their own garden lighting by means of a ‘plug-and-play system’. It is also safe, because it works with a low voltage.
We are happy to explain the 24 Volt cable system step by step! If you follow the steps below, the installation and connection is a piece of cake!
Tip: Always start by sketching a garden lighting and cable plan. This sketch makes it very easy to calculate the required fixtures. In addition, you can calculate the total amount of watts so that you know which transformer you need. You also know how many and what length of cables you need and of course how many T-connectors you need.
STEP 1: FIND AN OUTLET
You need a working and splash-proof socket. You then have 2 choices to switch the 24 volt LED garden lighting on and off.
STEP 2A: USE AN APP TO SET THE LIGHTING
You program the outdoor LED lighting via an app, then you have aWifi socket 230Vrequired. You plug this 230V WiFi socket into the socket. Then plug the transformer into the 230V WiFi socket.
STEP 2B: USE A TIMER
You use theDusk to dawn/Twilight switch 24V, then the outdoor LED lighting will turn on at dusk and off at sunrise. Plug the transformer into the socket and connect the Dusk to Dawn/Twilight switch 24V to the transformer.
STEP 3: CONVERTER FROM 230V TO 24V
You do this with atransformer, this converts the standard 230 volts voltage from the socket to a 24V safe low voltage. These transformers are available in various wattages, including 36W, 52W and 100W.
It is therefore important to calculate the total wattage of all lamps that you wish to connect to a transformer. This way you know exactly which transformer to use.
Tip: We always recommend that you do not load the transformer more than 80% W of the chosen LED lighting. For example, if you want to place 10 garden lamps of 4.0W each, the total wattage is 40W. Then the use of a 52W transformer is sufficient.
The transformer is IP67. As a result, the transformer can also be used outdoors and can withstand the elements well. However, it must be mounted horizontally and you cannot put the transformer under water or bury it.
STEP 4: POWER TRANSMISSION TO THE OUTDOOR LED LIGHTING
From the transformer you calculate the distance to the first fixture. You bridge this distance with 1 or morepower cables 24V. Cables are available in fixed lengths of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25 meters.
Arrived at the desired place you close aT-connector 24Vto the cable and the fixture. Then you repeat the steps of installing the cables and T-connectors, with the last fixture no more T-connector is needed, you connect it directly to the cable.
Tip: The number of fixtures chosen – the transformer = the number of T-connectors you need.
WIDE RANGE OF 24 VOLT GARDEN LIGHTING
Choosing outdoor LED lighting is not something you do every day, especially if you choose Suslight . We guarantee that our LED lamps last 75,000 burning hours. SUSLIGHT HAS EVEN MORE TIPS!
- Always place the 24V power cables with sufficient stretch and never too tight.
- Lay the 24V power cables in straight lines through your garden as much as possible, so you can easily find the power cable again if you want to connect an extra garden lamp later.
- The 24V power cables do not have to be buried at a depth of 60 cm because there is no risk of a dangerous electric shock. However, if the cables are placed under a lawn, the depth is 15 cm. recommended. In a (vegetable) garden where digging will take place, we recommend a depth of about 40 cm. This is to prevent the cabling from being cut.
- The screw connections can only be connected in 1 way. Turn both rings towards each other until they can go no further. Do not use any tools for this!
WHY 24 VOLTS?
Direct current is gaining popularity because in our modern electrical world it is more efficient and cheaper than alternating current. 24 Volt is direct current and has been used for garden lighting in Europe for years. It has similarities with the usual 12 Volt garden lighting in the Netherlands.
- They are both low power.
- They both belong to the SELV (Safe Extra Low Voltage) group and this means that there is no shock hazard.
- If pluggable, it can be installed by anyone.
These advantages therefore apply to both 12 and 24 Volts. Yet Suslight only uses 24 Volt for its garden LED lighting and this has a number of reasons:
- Greater distance!
With 24 Volt, a large distance is easily bridged without a heavy transformer. Also, 24 Volt has lower voltage losses in distance over the same cable than 12 Volt has. In addition, the 24 Volt system can always be expanded flexibly, the total power may be a maximum of 150 watts. The fixtures can be placed up to 300 meters away from the power source. This is absolutely not feasible with 12 Volts!
- Greater voltage range!
Our LED components work on a voltage range of around 3, 6, 9 or 12 Volt.
- More stable and reliable!
24 Volt works very reliably and stably, this is because there is a much larger range within which voltage loss may occur.
The 24 Volt DC cable system guarantees maximum safety for humans and animals, both during installation and during use. With an IP rating of 68, the (ground) cables are waterproof.
